Solar Panel Installation

Benefits of Solar Panels

Interested in making the switch to solar?

Having solar panels installed on your home lets you do two good things at once: you can save money on your monthly bills and have a positive impact on the environment. Solar panels work because sunlight hits the panels and shakes up the electrons in the cells. This creates a flow of electricity that’s sent to the system’s solar inverter. The inverter then converts that into usable electricity that can power your home. There are three main types of solar panels used in residential areas: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film. Call Omega Solar Energy and let us help you choose the best solar panels for your home.

Save The Environment

Solar panels on your home will help combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels that are burned to produce electricity emit harmful gasses that are the primary cause of climate change and air pollution. Fossil fuels are a finite source, and the price constantly fluctuates (it can increase greatly in just a short amount of time). Solar power improves public health, doesn’t put a strain on the water supply, and works well during a drought or heat wave. Solar energy also helps create jobs in clean energy.

Save Money

Solar panels can save you a lot of money. The main factor in determining how much money you can save is the cost of electricity. Solar panels will help reduce your monthly electric bills and can potentially increase your home’s value. Tax breaks, local incentives, and finance options make solar power even more affordable.

Monocrystalline Solar Panels

Monocrystalline solar panels are the most efficient of the three main types of panels. These monocrystalline solar panel cells usually achieve higher levels of efficiency because they’re made of pure silicon. Their cylindrical shape is another reason these cells can achieve such high efficiency. They’re made when manufacturers carve silicon ingots into wafers. While they’re doing that, they smooth and round the cell’s edges. Their form and content allow them to produce more electricity, so you don’t need as many of them to power your home. Monocrystalline cells cost more to manufacture, because of their complex construction. This does mean that their price point is higher than polycrystalline solar panels. They do last longer though and usually come with longer warranties.

Solar Panel Installation Process

Site Visit

Schedule a consultant to come to your home and we can be there by the next day. Your consultation will be anywhere from 20-30 minutes to a few hours, depending on what you’re looking for. Have a utility bill ready, check your roof condition, and make sure your breaker box is up to code. Once you’re good to go, we will take survey pictures. You’ll have a welcome call with Chase, Jerry, or Mark welcoming you to the Omega family. Then, you’ll get a call from the finance company to go over all the financials.

Permits & Documentation

It takes 3-7 business days for the permits to be filed. You’ll get an email confirmation once filed. Up to 2 weeks later, you’ll get a 3D modeling from the engineer. Once you sign off on the CAD design, the installation takes 4-8 weeks total. If you’re in the city limits, an inspection will be scheduled to ensure everything is up to code. Your first payment will be due 60 days after the unit is installed. We will continuously keep in communication with you about the process. It will also be updated in our app.
